2RB DT Card Challenge No. 1

The gracious (and talented) owner of 2RedBananas, Jeanette, has issued three card challenges to the Design Team members. She has sent each of us three kits of supplies (i.e. paper, ribbon, embellishments, etc.) and asked us to use these supplies to make a card (or other project if we wish).

This card was made using the first kit, which contained papers by Imaginisce from their A Shore Thing Collection, ribbon by May Arts, and Fantasy Fiber. These are all items that are available on 2RedBananas. I saw a really great sketch on the Delightful Sketches blog, and so I used it for this card.

The card base is brown CS with a block of Feel the Burn DP. The vertical strips of DP are Getting Hotter Need Water and the horizontal one is Cool Pool Chatter. A piece of light blue sheer/twinkle ribbon is tied along the bottom.

I have never used Fantasy Fiber before, but it wasn't too difficult. I laid out some fibers on a splat mat, placed some waxed paper over it and ironed it. I then used a scallop circle punch to punch it out. Easy as pie! I adhered the scallop circle in the upper right corner with a felt flower and brad on top of it. It adds a nice shimmer and really goes well with the ribbon.

The image and sentiment is from the Hawaiian Chicken stamp set by 2RedBananas. I colored it in with watercolor pencils and Stardust pen.

I had a lot of fun with this challenge. I even tried a technique that was new to me. Go to 2RB's blog and see how the other DT members met this challenge.
